Typhoon Strikes, Love Protects—Urgent Fundraising Appeal for the Wuxi Three Kingdoms Stray Animal Shelter
Recently, a devastating typhoon hit the Wuxi Three Kingdoms Base (Take Them Home Stray Animal Shelter), causing severe damage. The solar power system's frames were overturned by the storm, shattering 45 solar panels worth over ¥50,000, rendering the entire system inoperable. Additionally, several large trees were uprooted, damaging multiple enclosures, resulting in the collapse of a two-story dog kennel, and other fences and infrastructure were seriously affected. The initial repair estimate for the solar system and enclosures is ¥25,000.
Beyond the physical damage, the shelter's ability to provide for over 500 dogs and other animals has been severely strained. We urgently need help from the community to continue offering a safe haven for these homeless animals.
Three Months of Operating Funds Needed
To weather this crisis, we are seeking to raise funds to cover three months of operational costs, which will go towards purchasing food and covering labor expenses. The shelter’s current monthly expenses are as follows:
Dog food: With over 500 dogs, we need 7,000 kilograms of food each month. By purchasing raw materials and making the food ourselves, we manage to keep the cost to ¥2.3 per kilogram, making the total monthly cost for dog food ¥16,100.
Cat food: In addition to dogs, we also care for cats, with monthly expenses for cat food totaling about ¥2,000.
Staff wages: We employ four full-time staff members, with a total monthly payroll of ¥12,000.
Altogether, our monthly food and labor expenses amount to ¥30,100, bringing the total for three months to ¥90,300. Combined with the ¥25,000 needed to repair the solar power system and the enclosures, the total funding required is ¥115,300.
Transparent and Dedicated Fund Usage
We guarantee that all funds raised will be used exclusively for repairs and the care of the animals. We will provide full transparency on our official website, where every donation and expense will be documented, also we would provide weekly update and souvenirs to thank for your support. You can visit us at www.cucbrl.cn to monitor the progress.
About Our Shelter
The Wuxi Three Kingdoms Stray Animal Shelter was established in 2014 and has been in operation for over 11 years. We have provided a home for over 500 dogs and cats, as well as foxes, pigeons, tortoises, and other animals. The shelter's director holds a degree in veterinary medicine and has volunteered full-time for the shelter, working with veterinary school interns to provide basic medical care to the animals. Our shelter is equipped with advanced medical equipment such as a complete blood count analyzer, electrocardiogram monitor, and other essential tools.
In addition to caring for the animals at the shelter, we also treat seriously ill animals abandoned outside, such as those suffering from parvovirus or distemper. We actively collaborate with volunteer organizations to promote responsible pet ownership and help reduce the number of stray animals.
Help Us Protect Them
The damage caused by the typhoon has put the shelter’s operations in jeopardy, but with your help, we are confident that we can overcome this challenge and continue to provide a safe haven for these animals in need.
For 11 years, we’ve weathered countless storms alongside these stray animals, and we’re grateful for your unwavering support and companionship. Now, the animals of the shelter need your help once more. We hope more friends can join us in raising the funds we need for three months of food and labor costs, so these lives can continue to feel the warmth of love and care.
